The Classical Concert Series presents a musical program entitled Da Capo: Vancouver Guitar Duo. Stanton Jack and Louise Southwood are the Vancouver Guitar Duo, and the collaboration of these two classical guitarists and VSO School of Music colleagues has created a new spark on the classical guitar scene. Their repertoire is an eclectic mix of original duo guitar arrangements, including Renaissance and Baroque lute works, Brazilian Sambas and Bossa Novas, and fiery Spanish dances.

Every Sunday afternoon the folks at the historic St. Andrew’s-Wesley Church at Burrard and Nelson present the finest jazz musicians in the Lower Mainland in an afternoon performance where jazz meets, and dances, with the spirit. JAZZ ON THE BAY
Every Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday the Sylvia Hotel (1154 Gilford) presents an evening of live jazz in their lounge overlooking English Bay.
The lineup for October includes:
Wednesdays (8 - 10 p.m.): All your 70s favourites with Taylor James (Oct. 2); the jazz/pop trio Blue Bird Day (Oct. 9); funky jazz and pop with Hooked On Jazz (Oct. 16); classic harmonies with The Hot Mammas (Oct. 23); and jazz with a pop with Marc Rivest Music (Oct. 30).
Thursdays (8 - 10 p.m.): Swing and country blues with The Skillet Lickers (Oct. 3); Latin jazz with the Caryn Slade Trio (Oct. 10); jazz and vintage pop with Angela Verbrugge (Oct. 17); blues and folk with Jim Foster (Oct. 24); and acoustic folk and rock with Corey Primus (Oct. 31).
Sundays (7 - 9 p.m.): The New Shackletons (Oct. 6); vintage soul with Full Spin (Oct. 13); jazz and R&B vocals with Lulu & Her Men (Oct. 20); and jazz with the Doe Bender Trio (Oct. 27). And Sundays feature a Prime Rib special!
SAMBA FUSION
Fridays & Saturdays at Rio Brazilian Steakhouse (1122 Denman). Samba Fusion is a Vancouver based Dance Company, whose roots are based in Brazilian Samba, fused with numerous dance styles, music and rhythms. This Multicultural Dance Group performs several styles of dance fusion including: Brazilian Samba, Forro, Samba Reggae, Afro- Brazilian, Hip Hop, African, Polynesian and Burlesque.
